The Process

Transforming an ordinary vase into a unique and functional lamp can be a simple DIY project. All you need is a drill, a lamp kit, and a vase of your choice.

Step 1: Choose a Vase

The first step is to choose a vase that you want to turn into a lamp. You can choose a vase that you already have at home or find one at a thrift store or garage sale. Keep in mind that the vase should be sturdy enough to hold the weight of the lamp hardware and shade.

Step 2: Drill a Hole in the Bottom

Using a drill, make a hole in the center of the bottom of the vase. Make sure the hole is big enough to fit the lamp kit cord through.

Step 3: Thread the Lamp Kit Through the Hole

Thread the lamp kit cord through the hole in the bottom of the vase. Pull the cord all the way through until the socket sits inside the vase. Follow the instructions that come with the lamp kit to secure the socket inside the vase.

Step 4: Attach the Lamp Shade

Attach the lamp shade to the lamp harp and screw it onto the top of the socket.

Step 5: Add Light Bulb

Add a light bulb to the socket and plug the lamp in. Your new vase lamp is ready to shine and add a unique touch to your décor.

The Benefits of a Vase Lamp

While turning a vase into a lamp may seem like a simple DIY project, the benefits of a vase lamp go beyond just aesthetics. Here are some reasons why you should consider making your own vase lamp:

Personalized Style

A vase lamp allows you to showcase your unique style and creativity. By choosing a vase that reflects your personal style, you can create a lamp that is truly one-of-a-kind.

Cost-Effective

Transforming a vase into a lamp can be a cost-effective way to add new lighting to your space. Thrift store vases can be found for a few dollars, and lamp kits can be purchased for around $10 to $20.

Upcycling

Instead of throwing old vases away, upcycling them into lamps is a great way to give them new life. It’s also an eco-friendly way to add to your décor.

Functional Décor

Not only does a vase lamp add style to your space, but it also adds function. Lamps are an essential part of any room, and a vase lamp allows you to combine style and function in one piece.
